After 20 years of sampling various Asian, Hawaiian, flavors, and in collaboration under different chefs and restaurants, Chef Joey took a leap of faith and launched his own brand, Joey’s Kitchen. With the success of his two locations — he received a chance call from the Food Network and their interest in featuring Joey’s Kitchen on the popular program Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives hosted by the magnetic Guy Fieri. On this episode the popular menu item, crispy pata — a deep-fried pork trotters or knuckles was featured. After this broadcast Joey’s Kitchen became a favorite destination for visitors and locals alike. Chef Joey ventured to launch a third location paying homage to his father, his youth, and his Filipino roots – Balai Pata.

This top Maui chef formerly had David Paul’s Lahaina Grill on Lahainaluna Road, but he is no longer there, and that restaurant is now called Lahaina Grill. The new David Paul’s Island Grill is at the former location of Zuihau and of Sam Choy’s, near Ruth’s Chris Steak House and Hard Rock Cafe.

David Paul’s Island Grill, is open for dinner every day, and for lunch on weekdays. The decor is modern and gorgeous. In addition to the indoor seating, there is an open-air patio with great views of the ocean just across the street. The menu includes unusual and tasty soups, salads, meats and seafoods, priced with the high-end Maui restaurants.

We call our décor “Tropical Chic, Island Cool” and it features dark and light coffee colors, copper accents, beautiful blue-greens. We guarantee it will bring out the “island feeling” in you and your guests! Open windows to the kitchen, a large open bar area, and frosted windows evocative of the islands all create a setting that is breathtaking and unforgettable.

The river rock walls you see when you enter David Paul’s Island Grill create an island feel as soon as you walk in the door. Follow the mahogany hand rails and dark wood columns to our very own walk-in wine cellar where guests can select their own bottles. We’ll seat you in one of our distinctive dining areas, many of which give guests the chance to watch Chef David Paul and his kitchen team in action. Frosted glass features are evocative of the islands, while blue-green and gold tones calm the senses and whet your appetite for the fabulous food that follows. If you prefer cocktails only, we invite you to join us at our turn-of-the-century, reed-panel back lit bar. SUNSET TERRACE
Fifty to 60 guests can enjoy the unobstructed Maui ocean and sunset view with the Island of Lāna‘i just across the channel. All this and the action of Lahaina town just steps away.

Fashionable draw-down shades offer privacy and comfort. The Sunset Terrace can be closed off from the restaurant with options for a portable outdoor bar and food service station. Modular seating and adjustable lighting and music are also available.

LANAI LOUNGE
Enjoy cocktails and passed appetizers in our outdoor Lānai Lounge. This refined and relaxed lounge setting has a fire pit, soft lighting, comfortable oversized furniture, and amplified music. This area easily seats 21 guests and allows standing room for many more. Feel the tropical Maui breeze while enjoying the company of your guests.
