Kona, Hawaii, March 10, 2011 – The 2011 Kona Music festival will be held on April 2nd on the luau grounds of the Outrigger Keauhou Beach Resort. Originally created in 2010 as the Kona Jazz Festival, the updated name reflects the Kona Music Festival’s progression. Last year’s sold-out event was held at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. Headlining the show this year is Baltimore based Blues recording artist the Deanna Bogart Band (Blind Pig Records), along with returning blues/rock guitarist, the Colin John Band and the jazzy Maggie Herron Group. Rounding out the event are the ‘Big Island’s Little Big Band’ the Olliephonics, and Kalani Souza and friends in bigblueO.

“We’re very excited about this year’s festival,“ says Carolyn Greenan of Julie Jade Management. “The festival has been renamed the Kona Music Festival to more accurately reflect a broader spectrum of artistic styles. We are so fortunate to have a diverse group of artists this year…get ready for the sounds of blues, funk, rock and roll, and even big band stylings!”

The event is open to music lovers of all ages. A full bar and food will be available for the duration of the festival. Please note no coolers will be allowed on event grounds. Free parking is across the street. Doors open at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2nd, and music starts at 3:00, with the event wrapping up at 10:00 p.m. The Keauhou Beach Resort is offering kama’aina event packages that include a room at the resort, along with admission for two to the event. Don’t miss West Hawaii’s premier musical event of 2011!

Tickets are on sale now at Soundwave Music in Kailua Kona, the Waimea Music Exchange, and online at www.konamusicfestival.com.

A Julie Jade Management production, the festival is being funded in part by the generous support of Van Gogh Vodka, the Keauhou Beach Resort, HawaiiOnTV.com, Kona Brewing Company, JazzAlley TV, Big Island Weekly, Soundwave Music, and Ke Ola Magazine.
