Playing off of each other with affectionate wit, the show is warm and lighthearted as they share music and recipes, opinions and community events in a candid relaxed format. Joe gets your day started on KONI with a smile. Local news, weather, surf and beach conditions and the Greatest Hits of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s!

Joe’s career in radio started over 37 years ago in Saigon, Viet Nam as a DJ on Armed Forces Radio entertaining troops during the war. After his discharge fromt he military, Joe continued in radio at KIKX Tucson, Arizona. From there he was hired at KUPD in Phoenix, AZ where he worked until his move to Honolulu in 1974.

On the air in Oahu Joe worked at the former KGMQ, KNDI and KPOI. Joe spent 4 years at KPOI on the air and as Program Director before coming to Maui in 1979 as Program Director in Wailuku. After one year at KAOI, Joe was asked to more to his birthplace, Los Angeles, California to work at the Jazz station KKGO where he spent 10 years as the host of the afternoon show.

His next move was to satellite radio where he was heard on over 160 radio stations and around the world on Armed Forces Radio, this time as a civilian. In 1999 Joe moved to Sedona, Arizona where he co-owned a natural pharmacy and volunteered with the Sedona Fire Department.

In 2002, Joe followed his heart back into radio full-time and sailed off to Pago Pago, American Samoa where he did afternoons on KKHJ. Not long after that he was back on Maui where he joined KONI 104.7 FM as Operations Director and host of the Maui Sunrise Show. He’s been here ever since.
