There are onions. And then there are Maui Onions. Believed by many to be the sweetest onions in the whole wide world, these glorious bulbs are the star of our annual festival.

Congratulations to Chef Dave “D.K.” Kodama for taking top honors in the Maui Onion Recipe Contest with his Kekaha Shrimp & Lobster Cake with Swiss Chard, Hamakua Aliʻi Mushrooms & Lobster Uni Sauce!!

The Maui Onion Festival has been a signature event at Whalers Village since 1990. It’s dedicated to the cultivation and promotion of the world-famous Maui Onion and is attended by thousands of visitors and residents every year.

The Maui Onion Festival is a Free event, with Recipe contests, Games & prizes, Beer gardens, Chef demonstrations, Live entertainment, Food booths and more!! A great annual event on Maui!!
