Whole Foods Market will kick off a month-long celebration of one of Italy’s most famous culinary jewels, Parmigiano Reggiano, with an in-store demonstration that will honor the tradition behind the “king of cheese” while highlighting what it has to offer.

There will be samples, recipes and pairings throughout departments while attempting to break its own world record for simultaneously “cracking open” hundreds of hand-selected wheels of 24-month-aged Parmigiano Reggiano wheels.

Whole Foods Market cheesemongers will demonstrate the art of breaking into this spectacular cheese with the traditional method that preserves its salty, crunchy, crumbly internal crystalline structure. Maui Prime Fine Foods is West Maui’s Premier Gourmet Market!!

When Maui Prime Fine Foods opened its doors at Emerald Plaza in Lahaina in November of 2006, it was West Maui’s first market to offer a full range of gourmet food products at a retail level to island residents and visitors. Proprietors Cary and Karin Button had wanted, for a long time, to be able to provide the average food lover on Maui with what they had been able to supply to restaurants and hotels on a wholesale level – and then some. Their desire was to offer fresh, gourmet and specialty foods to those who love to cook and eat, and to provide these in a place where they could offer up the kind of personalized service that comes naturally to those who love to enjoy great food. In other words, Maui Prime Fine Foods is not only about providing intriguing and hard-to-find specialty foods to the Maui community, but is about assisting with cooking instructions, menu tips and wine pairings.

Proprietor Cary Button, also a chef, assures Maui seafood lovers that there will always be a full bounty of the imported cold water seafood specialties that he has imported from the Pacific Northwest for 26 years, along with fresh fish from Hawaii’s waters. A full deli case of fine meats, and another of imported and artisanal cheeses are also well-stocked for those looking to create a special meal or picnic. Savory side dishes and specialty foods from around the world are both abundant and affordable. Directions to West Maui
Heading into Lahaina from Central Maui or South Maui on
Highway 30 (Honoapiilani Highway), Maui Prime Fine Foods is
approximately one half mile north of Lahainaluna Road. Before
reaching Lahaina Cannery Mall on the left, you will see Keawe Street
on the right, at the new entrance to Lahaina Gateway. Turn right on
Keawe Street, followed by a right on Kupuohi Street. Kupuohi Street
will curve to the left as you head up the hill. Emerald Plaza will
be located on the right. There is reserved parking available on
the street in front of Maui Prime Fine Foods.
